The Tennessee Titans are set to hire former New York Jets Head Coach and San Francisco 49er’s Defensive Coordinator Robert Saleh as there next head coach. It was down to Matt Nagy and Robert Saleh, and a lot of Titan’s fans are much happier with the news of Saleh being the guy compared to Nagy. Saleh is a defensive mastermind. The Titans have a top pick in the upcoming draft, Cam Ward and a lot of money to spend in free agency. Saleh was a hot name in the cycle and reports say the Titans were at the top of his list for himself. He wants to be here and that is exciting. Saleh also spoke very highly of Cam Ward before the 49er’s game this past regular season against the Titan’s. Saleh is a defensive minded head coach and the expectation is that he will be calling the defense along with his other head coaching duties. That leaves the question of who is going to call the offense? Connor Orr, senior writer at Sports Illustrated, tweeted out at 8:31 this morning, “I heard his OC plan was incredibly detailed, comprehensive and team-specific, which likely eased concern for Tennessee.” That is extremely encouraging for Titan’s fan. He obviously has ties to the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree, and a person apart of that coaching tree is Mike McDaniel. The thought of Saleh and McDaniel calling the defense and the offense is beyond exciting. Mike McDaniel has been a hot name this coaching cycle not only for head coaching vacancies but also offensive coordinator vacancies. Connor Hughes, NFL reporter of SNYtv, tweeted last night at 11:01 PM, “There was talk early on that Robert Saleh, had he gotten another head coaching opportunity, wanted to take Mike McDaniel with him as offensive coordinator, I’m told. The two worked together in San Francisco. We’ll see if that happens. That would do wonder for the Titans.” This is beyond exciting news as a Titans fan. Not only the possibility of McDaniel as the OC, but his offensive plan going forward for the team and what he wants in an OC. Titans fans are excited again. I believe Robert Saleh is a great hire for the Titans and will be in Nashville for a long time. The formula for a fast turn-around is out there. The Jaguars, Patriots and Bears did it this past season, all with head coaches in there first year in said organization. I believe the Titans have an opportunity to do just that and build this organization back up with an identity and culture.
How do you feel about the hiring of Robert Saleh?
